The Kiltormer U14 hurler’s advanced to the County semi-final after a pulsating encounter with Portumna in Killimor on Monday evening last. The two sides had clashed earlier in the year with Kiltormer emerging victorious on that occasion, but it appeared Portumna were course to claim the spoils this time round registering four goals in the opening ten minutes to lead by 4-2 to 1-1. Kiltormer rallied somewhat before the break with Jason Broderick finding the net and Sean Frehill pointing. Kiltormer tailed by 4-5 to 3-3 at the change of ends.

Kiltormer continued where they left off and goals from Jack Kelly and Diarmuid Claffey had the side’s level at 5-6 apiece. Portumna regained the initiative however through a speculative effort that dropped under the crossbar, but a Jason Broderick goal had the side’s level yet again and it was the corner forward who struck the defining point moments from the end as Kiltormer won out by 6-9 to 5-11.
