U10 Football v Kinsale - Match Report

Ballygarvan under 10’s headed to Kinsale for their first football match of the season. All the football training we have done early in the year definitely paid off with an excellent team performance with every single player contributing. The Ballygarvan team demonstrated fine skills in team play, catching and attacking the ball.
We got off to the worst possible start conceding a very early goal. This however did not down hearten the team and only served to spur them on. The defence gained complete control for the rest of the match with Goalkeeper Patrick McSweeney commanding his goal area and the full back line of Zackary Kelleher, Michael Cussen and Malcom Crowley snuffing out everything that reach the inside line.
With the midfield of Richard O and Michael O now starting to command the middle area ball was starting to reach the forwards. With their Gooch like of the ball interchanges and movement the inside forward line Ethan Mc Connell, Andreas Lyons and Mark Healy were causing havoc amongst the Kinsale defenders. A well deserved equalising goal was scored by Andreas following by well taken points by Michael O and Mark Healy. Kinsale responded with a point leaving the minimum between the sides at half time.
As the second half began some contenders to Ger Spillane’s title as the best half back in the club began to emerge with the half back line on the day of Adam Dunne, Callum Mackey and Conor Kirby attacking and catching every ball setting off numerous attacks.
