U10's enjoy trip to Ballinabrackey

November 7, 2018

Another fine Friday evening saw Ballivor visit Ballinabrackey for the Under 10’s. Despite some poor navigation from one of the Ballivor mentors (who shall remain nameless but not blameless), the Ballivor squad and parents arrived on time at the Ballinabrackey pitch. Both teams started well notching up some great scores. Captain C. Hynes among the scorers in that period as he continued his impressive start to this campaign. However after 15 minutes Ballivor suffered a blow when keeper R. Nolan was carried off due to an injury to his ankle – we wish his a speedy recovery and hope to see him return soon to the team. S. Hannigan stepped in for the injured Nolan and made some great saves. But Ballinabrackey were too strong in the first half despite the efforts of T. Grant, J. O Connor, L. Molloy and N. Thompson in the Ballivor defence. However it was a different story in the second half when A. Dunne was switched to centre forward and J. Clarke switched to midfield. Both players gave Ballinabrackey a lot to think about with their hard work and determination. Both players got some lovely scores. Mention must be made of E. Daly who had a very impressive game and showed great determination in her efforts to score – however, despite all of the good will from the sideline, the score never came – a similar display this week in boardsmill will surely rectify that.
