U12 B team lose thrilling final in Pairc Tailteann

November 7, 2018

The past week has been a busy one for the U12B team who have had to squeeze in 4 games in 9 days. But they managed to do this and in so doing made it to the Division 6 Final in Pairc Tailteann. The game was end-to-end from the start though Boardsmill did have the better of the earlier exchanges. At half time, Ballivor trailed 6 points to 2. A couple of the players were struggling with ongoing injuries and in the second half a few changes were made to address this. Almost immediately from teh throw in Boardsmill attacked and scored a goal. Suddenly the gap was looking ominous. How would the Ballivor team react? Well, the response was almost immediate – straight down the park and scored a goal of their own – Game on! From that point on, Ballivor dominated. The Boardsmill defence stood firm while Ballivor peppered their goal mouth, picking off a few fine scores. The Boardsmill broke clear and took another goal. Once again the Ballivor team did not let their heads go down and continued their onslaught. Unfortunately, it was not to be and the guys went down in the end by 2 points. Considering the young age of the team, it was a great testament to them. in the second half, Ballivor had taken 6 scores to Boardsmill’s 2. But it was a terrific match and with a little luck on the night the result could have been different. Some outstanding performances by the young team and they can be sure that the club and village are very proud of their efforts.
