U12 Hurlers Lose to Ballinamere/Durrow

November 8, 2018

Edenderry..............2-01
Ballinamere/Durrow......4-05

On Saturday morning Edenderry's under 12 hurlers were beaten at home in the championship by a very good Ballinamere/Durrow side on a scoreline of 4-05 to 2-01.

The opening 10 minutes of the game was all ground hurling, and this period was very even with both sets of defenders playing really well, while Edenderry's goalkeeper Kalem made an excellent save to prevent a Ballinamere/Durrow goal. When the 10 minutes were up, Ballinamere/Durrow really up their game and grabbed the opening point. This was soon followed by a goal, which came from a rebound after Kalem Connell had initially made an excellent save. Ballinamere/Durrow scored another point, before Edenderry full-back Andrew Moloney made a great block to deny Ballinamere/Durrow another goal. Aaron Holt then opened Edenderry's account when he sent over a brilliant point from a free. Ballinamere/Durrow then added a goal and a point before the break, but it could have been more only for another save from the excellent Kalem Connell.

Halftime, Edenderry 0-01 Ballinamere/Durrow 2-03.

Ballinamere/Durrow made a great start to the second half when they had the ball in the Edenderry net. Then Shane Cummins was introduced to the game in place of Craig Mangan. Edenderry then pulled a goal back, when Conor Farrell finished to the net after a scramble in the Ballinamere/Durrow defence. Eoin Dunne and Craig Mangan were then brought in for Eoin O'Reilly and David Moloney. Ballinamere/Durrow scored the next two points, before Aaron Holt scored an excellent goal from a free. Ballinamere/Durrow grabbed the last score of the game when they scored another rebounded goal, after Kalem Connell made yet another fine save.

Despite being behind in the whole game, Edenderry showed great heart as they kept going and never gave up. Edenderry's best performers on the day were Kalem Connell, Callum Roche and Peter McNamara. Edenderry would like to thank John McDonnell who stepped in at the last minute to referee this game.
