U12's Beaten In Semi-Final

November 8, 2018

Edenderry...........1-04
Ferbane/Belmont......3-14

The Edenderry under 12 footballers ended their run in the Championship last Saturday morning, when a superb Ferbane/Belmont side defeated them in the semi-final in Ballycommon.

From the start Ferbane/Belmont had the upper hand on Edenderry with their physical advantage, and they opened up a lead of a goal and three points. But it could have been much worse for 'The Reds' as Andrew Moloney made two brilliant saves to deny Ferbane/Belmont two more goals. Conor Farrell then opened the scoring for Edenderry with a brilliant point, after Conor Groome found him with a great pass from a free. Ferbane/Belmont then added two goals in a row, before Jordan Hayes scored a very good point for Edenderry's second score. Ferbane/Belmont added three points in a row before the break to give them a comfortable halftime lead.

Halftime, Edenderry 0-02 Ferbane/Belmont 3-06.

At the start of the second half Andrew Moloney made another great save to deny Ferbane/Belmont a goal, but from the clearance they re-gained possession and sent over a very good point. Edenderry were then given a boost, when a David Moloney free dropped short, and the Ferbane/Belmont failed to deal with the ball, and it ended up in the back of the net. Conor Farrell then two more points for Edenderry, but they proved to be the last scores in this game for Edenderry. Ferbane/Belmont stepped up a gear and scored an impressive seven unanswered points, with six of those scores coming from play.

The best of luck to Ferbane/Belmont when they play Na Fianna in the under 12 final. Well done to all the Edenderry lads and their mentors Tom Reilly, Ger Hyland, Paschal Walsh, John Kelly and Tony Walsh for reaching the semi-final of the championship.
