U12s enjoy facile win

November 8, 2018

Edenderry made a great start to the under 12 ‘A’ football competition with a big win over Tullamore in their first game at home last Thursday.

Playing with the aid of the wind in the first half, Edenderry opened up a big lead at halftime scoring three goals and seven points, with some good scores coming from Alex Dinkin, Shane Nolan, Cian Farrell and Jack Foran. At the other end, Edenderry’s backline were rarely tested as Jack Brady and Darren Quinn were commanding at midfield, while Cian Farrell also dropped back to centre field when Darren Quinn withdrew with a mouth injury.

Halftime, Edenderry 3-07 Tullamore 0-00.

Playing with the wind in the second half, Tullamore started to get forward more. As a result it brought out the best in the Edenderry defenders as the tackling from the likes of Eoin Farrell, Dan Kane, Craig Mangan, Andrew Moloney and Donie Groome was excellent. This work along with some great hassling and blocking from midfielder Jack Brady, helped keep Tullamore to just two points for the second half. At the other end, Edenderry’s forwards kept the score ticking over with a goal coming from Ross Glynn, and other scores coming from Cian Farrell, Craig Mangan and Ross Glynn again.
