u16 ladies team

November 7, 2018

Over in Monroe later on Saturday 21st April our under 16 team took to the field in their 3rd round championship match vs Moyle Rovers. Again the sun was shining and there were perfect (if nearly too warm 😉) weather conditions. St. Patrick’s got off to the ideal start, with a well taken goal by Eimear Boland. This was added to by points in quick succession by Eabha Hogan and Jess Strappe. It took Moyle Rovers a while to settle into the game but on the 10 minute mark they scored a goal and added on several points before the St. Patrick’s girls notched on two pointed frees and goal from Eabha Hogan and one point by Erin O Brien. Half time score: St. Patrick’s 2.5. Moyle Rovers 1.3.

St. Patrick’s continued to work hard all over the field throughout the second half and demonstrated some great teamwork and link play. Scores in the second half came from Eabha Hogan & Jess Strappe and there was great delight when Issy Maher chipped in with a point from a well worked passage of play. Moyle Rovers continued to apply pressure throughout the second half, getting two goals and two points in the second half but St. Patrick’s by keeping the scoreboard ticking over won out the game by 7 points. Final score: St. Patrick’s 2.14 Moyle Rovers 3.4.

Huge thanks to Eabha Fitzgerald and her mum Deirdre who went to great lengths to get her to Monroe to play in the game. Eabha and her rugby teammates were in Limerick this morning and won out the Under 15 Munster 7 aside rugby competition. So many congratulations Eabha 🏉🥇.

Next and final round u16 championship game vs SliabhnamBan will be played Wednesday 02nd of May in Ballyneale.
