U21s win North Munster Final

November 7, 2018

Captain Jake Considine was the first to get points on the board barrelling over for the game’s first try under the posts. Considine threatened any time he carried ball in opposition 22 on the day and led by example on the field. Outhalf Shane O’Leary converted the try but UL Bohs got points on the board with two penalties shortly after slotted over by Mark Abraham taking the score to 7-6.

On the half hour, Shane O’Leary, who was a certain contender for MOTM with a fine display all around the park, found space to send a superb drop goal floating over the posts and ‘Munsters were 10-6 up at the break.

As the second half opened, UL Bohs stepped up their attack and sent Adrian Enright in for a try in the first quarter. Abraham added the extras and Bohs took the lead with the score 13-10 in their favour.

A scuffle shortly after between two players saw a red card handed to Bohs and a yellow to Young Munster. Play resumed and the ‘Munsters forwards rolling maul was too strong for the Bohs pack resulting in Gavin Ryan getting the eventual touchdown in the corner. The difficult conversion from touch went wide leaving the score 15-13 to ‘Munsters.

As the clock ticked down tense moments ensued as Young Munster continued to press the UL Bohs line knowing there was only one score in it. It was outhalf Shane O’Leary who sealed the win just before the final whistle with a second drop goal 30m out.
