The under 10’s travelled to Mc Cumhaill Park on Saturday last for the penultimate blitz. There were 35 children in all with terrific performances from both teams. St. Mary’s host the finals on Saturday 27th June in Convoy. All support welcome and anyone willing to make sandwiches or contribute to the refreshments can take them to club kitchen on the day.
The under 12’s were well beaten by a strong Glenties side in the county semi-final on Sunday evening last in O’Donnell park, Letterkenny. Glenties went 7 points to nothing ahead in the first twenty minutes. St. Marys came more into the game in the last ten minutes of the first half with a goal from James Kee and a point from Jack Blake to put them back in contention with the half time score 1 1 to 0 7. However Glenties dominated the second half and ran out easy winners in the end. The under 14 boys campaign began in Convoy on Wednesday last with a victory over neighbours Red Hugh’s. St. Mary’s started brightly and 2 goals in the first half helped them to a 4 point lead at the break. Red Hugh’s enjoyed lots of procession throughout but wayward shooting let them down. Two goals in the final stages did reduce the arrears but St. Marys ran out victors. Final Score: St. Mary’s 4 4 : Red Hugh’s 2 6. Best for St. Mary’s were Conor Cairns, James Kee, Michael Patton and Ryan Bonner. Their next game is away to Lifford on Wednesday 24th June. Bus leaves Drumkeen Hall at 6.15pm, Convoy green at 6.30pm and top of the terrace Raphoe 6.40pm. Training continues on Monday at 6pm.
Under 16’s and minors training continues on Wednesday evening this week at 6.30pm. The minors have league games away to Termon on Monday and away to Burt on Friday next.
The reserves were away to Red Hugh’s in the first round first leg of the Junior B championship on Saturday last. They were defeated on a scoreline of 1 10 to 1 5. Red Hugh’s were leading by 2 point at half time. Michael Browne saved a penalty in the second half to keep St. Marys in contention. However a goal shortly afterwards for Red Hugh’s saw them run out easy winners in the end. Scorers: Kevin Kelly 0 3, Ryan Carlin 1 2.
Senior and Reserve training continues on Tuesday and Thursdays at 7.30pm.
