Under 14 Hurling Feile Na Gael

Our under 14 hurlers travelled to Omagh Co. Tyrone to take part in Feile na Gael on last Fri 19th June. Our first two games on Friday afternoon resulted in defeats at the hands of

Naomh Olaf of Dublin and Annaghdown of Galway. However on Saturday morning our boys got into their stride and recorded victories over our host Club St. Endas, their neighbours Kilyclogher and Donegal side Gweedore/Dungloe. On Saturday evening our team, selectors and supporters were guests of honour at a barbeque hosted by St. Endas. A good night was had by all with food and music. However as our boys enjoyed the night one eye was on the Shield Semi Final against Derrynoose from Armagh which was fixed for 10.30 on Sunday morning in Garvaghy. Unfortunately the pressure of playing our sixth match in 43 hours proved too much for the 16 St. Patricks players who had battled so well to bring us 3 victories on Saturday and Derrynoose from Armagh advanced to and won the Shield Final. Well done to our 16 players who travelled over

180 miles to play six matches and won 3. The players were: Jack Cuddihy, Patrick Griffin, Michael Ryan, Bob Barton, Darragh Hall, Tommy O’Brien, Jack Meagher, Pauric O’Brien, Keith Morrissey, Angus MacDonald, Fergal Keane, Denis Clancy, Mikey O’Brien, Aidan Fitzgerald, Cathal Foley, Luke Fox. Thanks to selectors Declan Morrissey, Eamon Hall and Jimmy O’Brien who looked after the team assisted by under 12 selectors Chris Foley and Liam Fitzgerald. Thanks also to Úna O’Brien who looked after first aid and a special word of thanks to the parents and families who travelled to support St. Patricks in Omagh. We

say a special word of thanks to St. Endas who left no stone unturned to ensure our every need was looked after over the weekend.

We look forward to 2016 when Feile will be held in Tipperary and Waterford and St. Patricks will have the opportunity to return the compliment to some other club.
