Naomh Olaf 1-6 St.Oliver Plunkets ER (OPER) 2-3

Apart from a strong cross field wind, the conditions were ideal for a game of hurling. Olafs got off to a good start and dominated the early exchanges. Eoin Murphy opened up the scoring with a point. However after soaking up the early pressure, Plunketts struck with a goal and point to take the lead. Olafs kept plugging away and Stephen Mulvany got a great point to make it 0-2 to 1-1 at the break to OPER. The second half was an open affair with ball moving from end to end, with both sides creating plenty of chances. Eoin Murphy scored a great point from an acute angle, as he hit it on the turn. Plunketts struck back with a fine point and then a goal which put them 5 points ahead. Olafs crept back into the game with points from Conor Leavy and Eoin Murphy and with 10 minutes to go the score was 0-5 to 2-3. Plunketts had a goal disallowed for a square ball and this galvanized Olafs who began to get on top around the field. Some excellent play from Harry O’Brien, Daniel Coen, Ronan Lewins and Harrison Brewer saw the ball worked up the field for Marc Gallagher to finish to the net. Olafs got the equalizer with an excellent score from Christy Connors.Although both sides had plenty of chances to win the match, a draw was probably the fairest result in the end.
