Underage: U19s & Youths in Action This Weekend!

November 8, 2018

Dundalk’s two underage teams are in league action again this weekend.

On Saturday afternoon, Dundalk U19s make the short trip north to take on Monaghan United at Gortakeegan (kick-off 12.30pm), as they look to maintain their place at the summit of the FAI National U19 League Northern Division.

Martin Connolly’s side have won six of their eight games to date, with their biggest win of the campaign coming at home last weekend when they hammered Sligo Rovers 7-1.

Bob McKenna, who scored four goals against the Bit O’ Red, will look to build on his tally of 12 goals in the U19 League, with the Skerries native also netting twice on his only appearance for the Youths.

The 17-year-old was the difference between the sides when Dundalk last faced Monaghan, back in September, as his 53rd-minute strike secured a 1-0 win, in the most competitive game that the Lilywhites have faced so far.

On Sunday morning, fifth-place Dundalk Youths will be aiming to cut the gap on the top when they welcome league leaders Bohemians to Oriel Park (kick-off 11am).

Since back-to-back losses in mid October, Alan Browne’s side have won their last three games, with last weekend’s three points coming courtesy of a walkover against Shamrock Rovers, who were unable to field a team.

The young Lilywhites have so far accumulated 12 points from the 18 available, but they face their toughest task yet against a Bohs side who have won six of their seven games.

Admission is free, so come along and support our stars of tomorrow.
