Volunteering Tradition Endures at Dermot Austin Summer Camp

November 7, 2018

Sarsfields have a fine tradition of volunteering at the annual Dermot Austin Summer Camp and this year was no different. There were high numbers of helpers throughout the week and it was very encouraging to see a great turnout of current and past senior footballers as well as the current senior management.
This spirit was epitomised by the attitude of senior panel member Michael McCrory who came along to help out despite having suffered a bad leg break playing for Sarsfields earlier in the summer. Sinead McMahon provided catering for all the coaches and helpers who were looking particularly well in Sarsfields training tops.
The children were treated to fun and games and a Barbecue on the final day and every child was given a Sarsfields training top. Feedback from parents was excellent.
It might be unfair to single one person out, but for many years now club secretary Sean McAlinden has given up his time and used his annual leave to organise and manage the summer camp and for that he must be applauded.
