The Senior team recorded a draw in the opening game of the All County League Div 1 on Sunday at Fay Park. The score finished Abbey 2-9 Colmcille 0-15. There were some good passages of play in the first half and Colmcille went in at the break with a 5 point lead. However Abbey were awarded a dubious penalty early in the second half when an Abbey forward was supposed to have been fouled ‘in’ the penalty box. With Noel Farrell and Paul McKeon off injured, Abbey began to claw their way back into the game and went a point ahead with a few minutes remaining however Donie McKeon held his nerve to fire over a free from about 45 yards out to level the match. This was an open game and both will feel they could have won it.
