SENIOR

Senior: The fixture details for the Blues’ opening game in the 2015 county senior hurling championship have been finalised – on Sunday, April 12th Nenagh Éire Óg will face the Templederry Kenyons in St Michael’s Park, Toomevara at 6.30pm. As always your support would be appreciated.

Junior A: Gregg Browne’s junior A hurling team are expected to launch their league campaign this coming weekend. Please keep an eye on the club website and respective social media channels for updates.

Junior B: The first round of the junior B hurling league took place on Saturday. Unfortunately Nenagh Éire Óg lost to Portroe on a 0-9 to 0-13 scoreline. However, despite suffering a four-point defeat this was a spirited display which the lads can build on. For a report on this encounter please log on to the club website:

The Watch Centre North Tipperary Junior B Hurling League will be played on a two-group system this year with the top two teams in each progressing to the semi-finals. Nenagh Éire Óg have been drawn in group one alongside Toomevara, Newport, Shannon Rovers, Moneygall & Portroe.

Meanwhile group two features Borrisokane, Ballina, Borris-Ileigh, Lorrha-Dorrha & Kildangan. The Nenagh Éire Óg team are managed this year by Cian Tucker (manager), Mark Long, Paddy Flynn and John Paul King.

Minor A: The Blues’ will launch their north Tipperary minor A football championship campaign on Wednesday, April 1st when Nenagh Éire Óg will host Newport Gaels in MacDonagh Park, Nenagh at 6.30pm. The team are managed by John Manley (manager), Paudie Gleeson, Derek Lillis and Christy McLoughlin. We wish the lads all the very best during the campaign and appeal for your support. Last week Toomevara informed the North Board that they will not be taking part in this year’s competition. It was unanimously decided to re-draw the competition. The following is the amended draw – group one: Kildangan, Inane Rovers & Ballina; group two: Nenagh Éire Óg, Newport Gaels & Portroe. The top two teams in each group will qualify for the semi-finals.

A Night with Christy Kenneally: The Nenagh Éire Óg Healthy Club Project team will host a ‘Night with Christy Kenneally’ in the Scout’s Hall on Wednesday, April 15th at 8pm. The theme of his talk is “from heartbreak to hope”. Admission is priced at €5 while under-18s will be admitted for free. For full details on this event please see the club website:

Healthy Club Project: The Nenagh Éire Óg Healthy Club Project Team, represented by Michael Geaney and Sister Clare Slattery, were asked to showcase the amazing work done carried out over the past two years at the GAA’s Health and Well Being Conference in Croke Park on Saturday, March 21st. Best Wishes: Our best wishes go this week to club member Niall Cahill who will manage Thurles CBS in next Saturday’s Croke Cup final against St Kieran’s (Kilkenny) at Semple Stadium, Thurles.

JUVENILE

Under-6 & Under-8: There will be no training on Easter Saturday morning.

Wednesday training resumes on April 8th at 5.15pm. Happy Easter to all of our young hurlers and their families from Nenagh Éire Óg!

Under-10: There will be no training on Easter Saturday morning. There will be special football training for under-8 and under-10 boys on Tuesday 7th at 6pm. Please bring gumshields. Wednesday training will resume at 5.15pm on April 8th.

Under-12: Well done to our under-12 groups A and D football teams who put in a huge effort away to Ballina on Friday, but came up short.

Training continues with hurling training on Mondays from 5.30pm to 6.30pm and football training on Wednesdays from 6.30 to 7.30pm. Remember to bring gumshields. Both groups A and D team play at home to Inane Rovers at 6.30pm on Friday.

Under-14: Our under-14 hurlers had a good challenge game against Kilcormac-Killoughey in Kilcormac on Sunday. All panel members got good game time and many thanks to our hosts for their kind hospitality. Well done to Cian O'Farrell, Seán Phelan, Conor Hennessy, Liam Heffernan and Gavin Dooley who were part of the North Tipperary under-14 hurling squad who performed very well at the Peadar Cummins tournament in Borrisoleigh on Saturday. Well done to Shane Connolly and Michael McNamara were part of the management team. Our next competitive action is in the Peil na nÓg football semi-final v Borrisokane on Easter Monday. Training continues on Mondays from 6.30pm to 7.30pm and Saturdays from 11am to 12.15pm.

Under-16: Our under-16 footballers got their championship off to a good start with a 5-14 to 2-5 win over Inane Rovers in Roscrea. This week’s match against Toomevara was cancelled and Nenagh received a bye. The next round match is at home to Borrisokane on April 6th. Congratulations to all members of our under-16 squad who represented the club on divisional squads last weekend. Conor Bonar, Conor McCarthy, Jake Morris and Mark O'Farrell were members of the North Tipperary under-16 squad who travelled to Clonoulty for the Garda Cup while David Minogue was a selector. Evan Murphy was a member of the victorious North Tipperary under-15 squad who won the Roger Ryan Tournament in Toomevara. Well done to all involved.

Nenagh CBS: Well done to the Nenagh CBS team who were crowned Munster Post Primary Schools under-15A hurling champions (Hugh O’Dowd Cup) last week. Nenagh CBS beat Árdscoil Rís (Limerick) 1-13 to 0-5 in a final played at Newport. Nenagh Éire Óg’s Evan Murphy captained the team while he was also joined on the panel by the Blues’ Fiachra Starr, Barry Coffey, Seán Shanahan, Paul Slattery and Daniel Molamphy.

NENAGH HANDBALL CLUB

Congratulations to Sinéad Meagher who is the new girls under-16 singles All-Ireland handball champion. Sinéad had a convincing win at the Juvenile Handball Championships in Kingscourt, County Cavan on Saturday.

Well done also to Eimear Meagher and Eleanor Percy (Lahorna) who competed well in the under-15 doubles final, but lost out to Armagh opposition. Well done to our under-8 and under-9 handball boys who competed well in Newport recently.

CAMOGIE

Clothes Collection: we are holding a clothes recycling drive in order to raise much needed funds for the Camogie section. Please donate all your clean unwanted clothes, bed linen, towels, curtains, shoes, bags, belts and soft toys. The collection will take place in the club house on Saturday, April 18th between 10am and 12 noon. If you cannot make it on the date and have bags to donate please contact Marie 087 276 8444, Denise 087 674 2591 or Catherine 086 199 6643 to make arrangements for the collection of your items.

Registration: we ask all players who still have outstanding registration to pay as soon as possible.

Fixtures: under-14 versus Newport in Nenagh on Wednesday at 6.45pm.

Under-16s played Silvermines on Monday in their re-fixed game. We have no result at the time of going to press. Junior league versus Burgess in Nenagh Sunday at noon.

Tipperary: hard luck to the Tipperary minors who were defeated by Kilkenny at the weekend. Grace O’Brien, Rachel Maher, Sarah Quigley and Maeve Coffey were the Nenagh representatives on this panel. We wish Emer, Maeve, Caroline, Hazel, Niamh, Rachel and the Tipperary under-16 team the very best in their shield final versus Waterford this Wednesday in Dungarvan.
