SENIOR

 

Challenge Cup: During the past week Nenagh Éire Óg played twice in the Clean Ireland Recycling County Senior Hurling Challenge Cup. At MacDonagh Park, Nenagh on Tuesday, March 17th the Blues enjoyed a 25-point win over Boherlahan-Dualla (4-24 to 0-11). For a full match report please see the club website:

Nenagh Éire Óg were then drawn away to Moycarkey-Borris in the last eight of the Dr Fogarty Cup. On Saturday evening Éire Óg travelled to Littleton and won a hard-fought contest with Moycarkey-Borris on a 2-14 to 0-18 scoreline. Please see the club website for a full report on this

The three remaining quarter-finals in the Dr Fogarty Cup took place on Sunday, March 22nd – Lorrha-Dorrha beat Cappawhite 3-18 to 2-9, Burgess beat Éire Óg Annacarty 3-16 to 0-13 and Mullinahone beat Moneygall 2-23 to 3-13. Therefore Éire Óg could potentially be drawn against Mullinahone, Burgess or Lorrha-Dorrha in the semi-finals. The Dr Fogarty Cup semi-finals are not expected to take place for some time. Please note that Éire Óg’s opening game in the county senior hurling championship against Templederry is expected to take place on the week-ending Sunday, April 5th.

 

Junior A: The Éire Óg junior A team were scheduled to take on Borris-Ileigh in the opening round of the Watch Centre North Tipperary Junior A Hurling League in MacDonagh Park, Nenagh on Saturday, March 21st, but that game was postponed.

 

Junior B: The first round of the junior B hurling league will take place on Saturday, March 28th when the Blues will host Portroe at MacDonagh Park, Nenagh at 5pm. The team are managed this year by Cian Tucker, Mark Long and John Paul King. We wish the lads all the very best during the campaign and appeal for your support. The competition will be played on a two-group system with the top two teams in each progressing to the semi-finals. Nenagh Éire Óg have been drawn in group one alongside Toomevara, Newport, Shannon Rovers, Moneygall & Portroe. Meanwhile group two features Borrisokane, Ballina, Borris-Ileigh, Silvermines, Lorrha-Dorrha & Kildangan.

 

Minor A: The Blues’ will launch their North Tipperary Minor A Football Championship campaign on Wednesday, April 1st when Nenagh Éire Óg will host Newport Gaels in MacDonagh Park, Nenagh at 6.30pm. The team are managed by John Manley, Paudie Gleeson, Derek Lillis and Christy McLoughlin. We wish the lads all the very best during the campaign and appeal for your support. Last week Toomevara informed the North Board that they will not be taking part in this year’s competition. It was unanimously decided to re-draw the competition. The following is the amended draw – group one: Kildangan, Inane Rovers, Ballina; group two:

Nenagh Éire Óg, Newport Gaels, Portroe. The top two teams in each group will qualify for the semi-finals.

 

A Night with Christy Kenneally: The Nenagh Éire Óg Healthy Club Project will host a ‘Night with Christy Kenneally’ in the Scout’s Hall on Wednesday, April 15th at 8pm. The theme of his talk is “from heartbreak to hope”. Admission is priced at €5 while under-18s will be admitted for free. For full details on this event please see the club website:

Lotto: There was one winner of last week's lotto jackpot of €1,000.

JUVENILE

 

Under-6 & under-8: Under-6 & under-8 training continues on Saturday mornings at 10am. New members welcome. Thank you to all the boys, parents and mentors who marched behind the Nenagh Éire Óg banner in the St Patrick's Day parade. Congratulations to Hughie McGrath and the committee on a great success.

 

Under-10: Under-10 training continues at 10.15am on Saturday morning.

 

Under-12: The under-12 football championship begins on Friday with both groups A and D playing away to Ballina. Best of luck to the boys! Don't forget your gum shields!

 

Under-14: The under-14 Peil football semi-finals and final will take place on Easter Monday, April 6th. We play Borrisokane in the semi-final. The under-14 football championship will start on Wednesday, April 8th while the Féile na nGael hurling semi-finals and final will take place on April 18th. Hurling and football training continues on Saturday morning from 11am to 12.15pm and Monday from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

under-14 hurling panel which is taking part in the Peadar Cummins tournament on Saturday in Borrisoleigh.

 

Under-16: Our under-16 footballers kicked off their football campaign with a win over Inane Rovers in Roscrea on Saturday last. Nenagh led at half-time on a scoreline of 1-7 to 1-5. The first half goal coming from Daniel Molamphy following good play between Conor McCarthy and Conor Bonar. Roscrea started the second half brightly scoring an early goal.

Their lead was short lived as Nenagh dominated the rest of the second half and ran out convincing winners on a scoreline of 5-14 to 2-5 with the second half goals coming from Daniel O'Donovan and Conor McCarthy (3). Fiachra Starr and Conor McCarthy impressed for Nenagh. Our next fixture at this grade is on Monday, March 30th against Toomevara in Nenagh. Best of luck to our boys on the north Tipperary inter-divisional teams at the weekend!

 

CAMOGIE

 

Clothes Collection: There will be a clothes collection in the clubhouse on Saturday, April 18th. All unwanted clothes will be gratefully received. Please contact eireognenagh@gmail.com if you would like to donate before the collection date.

 

Training: Training has resumed for all teams in the club and details are as follows – the under-8 panel are training on Thursdays 17:30 – 18-30.

The under-10 and under-12 panels are training Monday and Thursday from

17:30 – 18:30. The under-14 panel are training Tuesday 17:30 – 18:45 and Thursday 17:45 – 19:00. Junior and minor training is Wednesday 8pm in the hurling alley and Saturday 11:30am in the hurling field. For further information on training please contact the mentors of the various teams or email us at eireognenagh@gmail.com.

 

Registration: We ask all players who have yet to pay their registration to please do so as soon as is convenient.

 

Management: Management of all teams in the club are asked to contact our PRO once they have confirmed details of a particular fixture and inform him if there are any changes to said fixture. This is so we can publicise the details on our website and various social media channels.

 

Tipperary: Congratulations to Grace O’Brien, Hazel McAuliffe, Caroline Browne, Niamh Sheridan, Maeve Coffey and the Tipperary under-16 team who defeated Cork at the weekend. Also the Tipperary minors recorded a 3-8 to 1-13 win over Cork in the All-Ireland championship. Grace O’Brien, Maeve Coffey, Sarah Quigley and Rachel Maher were the Éire Óg representatives on this panel.

 

Fixtures: Under-14  championship v Éire Óg Annacarty in Annacarty on Saturday at 12pm. Under-16A championship v Silvermines in Nenagh on Saturday at 12pm. Under-16C championship v Toomevara in Toomevara on Saturday. The time has yet to be confirmed for this game.
