ADULT

Condolences: The thoughts of everyone associated with the Nenagh Éire Óg club are with the family of Brian Gubbins this week. The body of 19-year-old Brian Gubbins was recovered adjacent to the Corrib River at Bridge Street in Galway city shortly before 10am following a search co-ordinated by the Gardaí at Mill Street Garda Station on Sunday morning.

Brian Gubbins was a first year BA student of Journalism & New Media at the University of Limerick and also a cherished member of the Nenagh Éire Óg club. Indeed, Brian was an absolute credit to his family, his friends and to the town of Nenagh.

Brian was reported missing having been last seen at 12.15am on Friday morning in the Carbon Nightclub on Eglinton Street, Galway.

Following a public appeal a co-ordinated search was organised and began at 9am on Sunday morning. Shortly before 10am the Nenagh Ormond Search & Rescue Unit, led by Tom Harvey, discovered the body in a canal adjacent to the Corrib River.

The Nenagh Éire Óg club would like to extend its sympathy and deepest condolences to the Gubbins family, his parents Jim and Nora, brother Kevin and sister Michelle.

Nenagh Éire Óg would like to commend the emergency services, especially the Nenagh Ormond Search & Rescue Unit, and the Gardaí at Mill Street Garda Station for their efforts. The Nenagh Éire Óg club would also like to commend Éire Óg supporters, the people of Nenagh, the people of north Tipperary, the people of Galway and the University of Limerick student population for their help with the search on Sunday morning.
