ADULT



Scór: Commiserations to the Éire Óg figure dancers who finished second in the rince foirne Scór na bPáistí county final. The team was: Caoimhe Connolly, Michelle Berry, Naoise McCloone, Laura Nagle, Crian O’Donnell, Sara Hallinan, Orlaith Tinkler and Molly Murphy. Well done to everyone involved.



Championship Draws: The Hibernian Inn hosted the draws for the 2015 North Tipperary hurling championships on Friday, February 27th. As sponsor of the Hibernian Inn North Tipperary senior hurling championship Martin Morris described the competition as “the best divisional championship bar none” and as his “passion”. Martin Morris also said that, as sponsor, he was “proud to be associated with” the competition.



In the senior championship Nenagh Éire Óg were drawn against Toomevara.



The remaining pairings in the first round draw are: Lorrha-Dorrha v Borrisokane, Burgess v Kilruane MacDonagh’s, Moneygall v Portroe, Roscrea v Kildangan, Templederry Kenyons v Borris-Ileigh and Silvermines v Ballina. The first round is scheduled to take place at the end of May and the competition will be run similarly to 2014.



The Watch Centre Junior A Hurling Championship will be run on a two-group league system with the top team in each group progressing to the semi-finals and the second and third teams qualifying for the quarter-finals. Nenagh Éire Óg, the defending champions, were drawn in group one alongside Kildangan, Kilruane MacDonagh’s, Silvermines and Burgess. Éire Óg’s first game will be against Silvermines. Group two will feature the following teams: Toomevara, Borris-Ileigh, Roscrea, Knockshegowna and Templederry.

The draws for the North Tipperary junior A and B leagues will be made at a later date.



The 2015 Walsh’s of Nenagh North Tipperary Under-21A Hurling Championship will be run on a knock-out-loser’s-group system. Éire Óg have been drawn against Roscrea in the opening round. Kilruane MacDonagh’s will face Ballina in a preliminary round game while the remaining first round games will see Kildangan face the winner of the Kilruane v Ballina game and Toomevara take on Newport Gaels.



The details of the minor A hurling championship will be released at a further date.



Congratulations: Our congratulations go out this week to club treasurer Séamus Cleary who was elected development officer with the North Board at Friday night’s meeting of the divisional board. Well done Séamus.



Well Done: A huge well done to Nenagh Éire Óg’s Tommy Heffernan and Dáire Quinn who contributed so handsomely to Saturday evening’s terrific Fitzgibbon Cup final. Both Tommy and Dáire featured for a University of Limerick team which battled to a stalemate against the defending champions Waterford Institute of Technology. After extra-time the game finished level - UL 3-12 WIT 0-21. Well done lads!



Éire Ógres: For the past four weeks Éire Óg have been running a GAA camp, entitled ‘Éire Ógres’, to introduce beginners to hurling at the MacDonagh Park complex. This free programme was aimed at boys born 2008-2010 to help improve their hand-eye coordination and agility in a safe and fun environment. The entire club was overwhelmed by the response to the programme. Congratulations to everyone associated with this stunning success story.



Fixtures: Nenagh Éire Óg have been drawn against Kildangan in the first round of the Clean Ireland Recycling County Senior Hurling Challenge Cup. The fixture is scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 8th at 12 noon in MacDonagh Park, Nenagh. Please keep a close eye on the club website and on the club’s various social media channels for all the latest updates on fixtures and results.

JUVENILE



Under-6 & 8: Training begins on Saturday morning from 10am to 11am. New members welcome.



Under-12: Under-12 hurling training will be on Monday and Wednesday from 5pm to 6pm for the next few weeks. Full attendance required now as the football league will be starting soon. Please bring gumshields to all training sessions.



Under-14: We are scheduled to play a Féile hurling quarter-final this weekend against Kildangan. Please check nenagheireog.com for fixture times and details. There will be training on Saturday at 11am.



Under-16: Our under-16s have returned to training on Wednesdays and Sundays. This weekend they travel to Ennis to support the Tipperary hurling team in the league clash with Clare.



Registration: Could those not registered please do so immediately. For insurance purposes, unregistered players may not train or play games.



Éire Ógres Camp: Well done to all the boys who completed their Éire Ógres beginner’s camp on Saturday. Thank you to the parents and the coaches for helping to make it such an enjoyable month for all.



St Patrick's Day: The juvenile club will be marching in the parade again this year and the boys will get more information from team management soon.



NENAGH HANDBALL CLUB



Hard luck to Cameron Spillane and the boys U-14/15 Tipperary Team Of Six on losing out to Clare opposition in the semi-final of the competition in Dungarvan at the weekend.



CAMOGIE



Tipperary: Well done to the Tipperary minors and the Nenagh players on this panel who defeated Clare 1-15 to 2-7. Congratulations to Caroline Browne, Niamh Sheridan, Hazel MacAuliffe, Maeve Coffey and Emer Ryan who all made the Tipperary under-16 panel. Best of luck ladies for the year ahead.



Training: All our teams have resumed training at this stage. Management of the various teams will be in touch with details of the training and upcoming matches. If you are interested in taking up camogie or helping out with coaching or administration please email us at eireognenagh@gmail.com



Registration: There are still a number of players who have yet to register for this year and no player will be allowed to train or play with the club without registering. The costs are for all girls under the age of ten is €50 while for others it is €60 for the first girl to register from a family and €50 for every other child from the same family. For non-players it is €20. We ask all our players to please register at your earliest convenience.
