ADULT

Senior: The Nenagh Éire Óg senior hurlers are this week appealing to supporters of the Blues to come out in force on Sunday, May 11th (throw-in 7.15pm) when Liam Heffernan’s men face the Templederry Kenyons in the first round of the Hibernian Inn North Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship. Although Éire Óg registered a 3-18 to 0-18 win over the Templederry Kenyons recently in the county championship everyone associated with the senior team has the utmost respect for Templederry and the Blues will have to be at their very best to get a result in Cloughjordan. Congratulations: Our congratulations this week go to Evan Murphy and Fiachra Starr - Evan won the County Féile na nGael Puc Fada on Saturday while Fiachra Starr came fourth in the County Féile na nGael Skills Competition. Well done lads!

Under-6 & Under-8: We held an under-6 and under-8 hurling blitz against the Silvermines on Saturday morning last in MacDonagh Park, Nenagh. We had almost one hundred children from both parishes taking part which was wonderful to see. Please see the Nenagh Éire Óg Facebook page for

Community Games: Hard luck to our under-10 and a half hurlers who were beaten by a strong Borris-Ileigh team during the week.

Under-12: Hurling training continues on Mondays at 5.30pm and Wednesdays at 6.30pm. We would welcome all new players born 2002-03 who have an interest in hurling to come along to training and enjoy a great summer.

Under-14: The under-14 footballers travelled to Toomevara on Wednesday night last to take on the home team in the north Tipperary football semi-final. Éire Óg had wind advantage in the first half and despite having most of the possession, failed to convert on the scoreboard and only held a two-point advantage at the break. However, the Blues performed much better in the second half and came out on top on a scoreline of 0-9 to 0-1 with the score of the game coming from the boot of Conor Sullivan. Scorers: Scott O’Brien (0-4), Seán Phelan (0-2), Stevie Hallinan, Luke O’Carroll & Conor Sullivan 0-1 each. We play Inane Rovers in the final on May 14th.

Under-16: Well done to our under-16 footballers who won a tough north Tipperary semi-final on Monday evening last against Inane Rovers in Roscrea - the final score was 4-9 to 3-5. The lads face Newport in the final which will be held this weekend. Please keep an eye on nenagheireog.com for fixture details.

CAMOGIE

Under-12: The under-12s had no game this weekend, but they should be playing this forthcoming weekend. Please contact management for further details.

Under-14: There is a possibility that the under-14s will have a game this Saturday. Management will be in contact during the week with details.

Under-16: Our under-16s travelled to Newport last Thursday in the second round of the championship and despite a great effort we were unfortunately defeated by four points. That concludes our games until after the Junior Certificate. We wish all our players studying for state exams the best of luck in their study over the next few weeks.

CLUB HISTORY

As most of you are aware the club, under the expert guidance of PJ Maxwell, Nancy Murphy and Donal A Murphy, are putting the finishing touches to our club history book. This promises to be a comprehensive collection of the history of Gaelic games in our parish.

While the club have made every effort to collect photographs of teams from the present to the distant past and other pictures which would be of interest we appeal to people to get in touch if you have a photograph of interest in your possession.

Please do not assume that we already possess your photograph or that it is of no interest.

Every Éire Óg photo, whether it is of a team, presentation or action shot is of massive importance to us and we would be delighted to have it. We are also anxious to get photos of school teams from any of the schools in the community.

If you have a photograph please get in touch with us at eireognenagh@gmail.com

We promise to return the photo as soon as we have it scanned.
