JUVENILE
It was wonderful to see every inch of the MacDonagh Park playing fields filled with children hurling on Sunday last as we welcomed 150 visiting Clare juveniles from St Joseph’s Doora-Barefield, Inagh-Kilnamona and Clarecastle to Nenagh – many thanks to all who helped out in any way, especially the parents who helped with the big catering operation!
St Patrick's Day Parade: All juveniles are requested to walk with us in the St Patrick's Day parade this year. We will be meeting up at the CBS Primary School on Summerhill and the boys should wear their Éire Óg gear. More information will be given out this week at training and via text. It's a wonderful tradition and we will make sure the boys have a great time.
Under-6 & Under-8s: Training continues on Saturday mornings from 10-11am. The huge turnout at the weekend is very encouraging for the future. Please keep up the good work. Our thanks to the St Joseph’s Doora-Barefield juveniles for providing such great opposition at the weekend!
Under-10: Training is on Saturday mornings at 10.30am. Well done on your great performances against St Joseph’s Doora-Barefield at the weekend.
Under-12: Hard luck to our Group A footballers who lost to a strong Borrisokane side on Saturday and well done to our Group D boys who beat Newport in their first outing in the football league. There is only one fixture this weekend with the Group 4 team playing Ballina in Nenagh on Saturday – time to be confirmed. Training is on Mondays from 5.30-6.30pm. Please bring hurling and football gear. Don't forget the mouth guards!
Under-14: The under-14 hurlers welcomed Inagh-Kilnamona of Clare to MacDonagh Park on Sunday morning last en route to the Clare-Tipp match in Thurles. After a competitive hour’s hurling the stronger Clare boys came out on top. Thanks to Michael Hallinan for refereeing the match. A big thank you to all the parents who provided and served up refreshments for both teams afterwards. Outdoor training starts in earnest on Saturday morning next at 11am.
Under-16: The under-16s season is kicking into gear with training on Wednesday evenings at 8pm at the Nenagh College facilities. We had a good workout against Clarecastle on Sunday afternoon in difficult conditions – the game finished in a draw for the second year in-a-row. Training continues on Sunday morning at 10.15am. Great potential in this squad and several challenges are lined up over the coming weeks!
HANDBALL
We wish the best of luck to Eamonn Spillane and Sinéad Meagher who will represent Tipperary in All-Ireland semi-finals this weekend. Eamonn and Gerry Foley (Ballinahinch) will face Mayo opposition in the Diamond Master B Doubles competition in Kilcolman on Sunday at 1pm. Sinéad will play her Under-15 Girls Singles match in Nenagh at 10.30am on Saturday morning. Your support would be welcome.
CAMOGIE
Training – under-8 and under-6 Thursday (5.30-6.30pm); under-10s Monday & Thursday (5.30-6.30pm); under-12s Monday & Wednesday (5.15-6.30pm); under-14s Tuesday (5.30-7pm) & Thursday (5.30-7pm); under-16 Monday & Thursday (6-7pm), Saturday (10-11am); under-18 and junior teams will be notified by text message as to when their training is on.
Junior: The junior team are due to play Burgess in the opening round of the league on Sunday. This game is provisionally fixed for MacDonagh Park, Nenagh at 11am.
Under-14: This team have been drawn against Éire Óg Annacarty, Clonoulty-Rossmore, Drom & Inch, Newport-Ballinahinch and Ballina in the championship. The opening match is against Ballina on April 1st. They played Shannon Rovers in Ballinderry in a challenge and thanks to Shannon Rovers for the game. The second round of the Féile na nGael is fixed for this weekend – fixture details to be confirmed.
Under-12: The under-12 are playing a blitz on Saturday the 22nd.
Registration: There are a few outstanding players who have yet to be registered – if this fee is not paid you will not be allowed to play in any of the games this weekend.
Sympathy: We extend our sympathy to Elaine Slattery on the death of her grandmother.
Volunteers: We are always looking for new people to get involved in the club and if you would like to contribute to the growth of Camogie in terms of administration, coaching, playing or in any other way please email eireognenagh@gmail.com.
Tipperary: Well done to Hazel McAuliffe, Maeve Coffey and Grace O’Brien who are members of the Tipperary under-16A panel for this year while Sarah Quigley, Eimear Ryan, Hazel Coffey and Niamh Ryan have been selected on the Tipp under-16B panel. Sarah also has the distinction of being the captain of that team for the year. Well done ladies. The Munster final is fixed for two weeks’ time against Cork. The Tipperary under-16s beat Limerick in the A Munster semi-final on Sunday with all three Nenagh girls on the panel playing. Grace O’Brien bagged three points for herself. Unfortunately the Tipp B team were defeated by Cork. However Hazel Coffey, Eimear Ryan, Niamh Ryan and Sarah Quigley all played. It’s great to see so many of our girls feature on inter-county panels and it augurs well for the future of our club. Best of luck to Alanna and Rachel in the under-18 Munster semi-final in The Ragg this Monday against Limerick!

CLUB HISTORY
As most of you are aware the club, under the expert guidance of PJ Maxwell, Nancy Murphy and Donal A Murphy, are putting the finishing touches to our club history book. This promises to be a comprehensive collection of the history of Gaelic games in our parish.
While the club have made every effort to collect photographs of teams from the present to the distant past and other pictures which would be of interest we appeal to people to get in touch if you have a photograph of interest in your possession.
Please do not assume that we already possess your photograph or that it is of no interest.
Every Éire Óg photo, whether it is of a team, presentation or action shot is of massive importance to us and we would be delighted to have it. We are also anxious to get photos of school teams from any of the schools in the community.
