HC: On Sunday afternoon next, our senior hurlers return to championship action when they take on Kilruane in the third group game. This game takes place in Dolla at 1.30.

JAHL: On Saturday evening last our junior A team made it two wins from two with an eight point win over Kildangan. Final score was 2.18 2.10.


Juvenile news:

U6 & U8: Training for U6 and U8s continues on Wednesdays at 5.15pm and Saturdays at 10am.

U10 and Community Games: Training is in full swing now and with challenge matches planned, full attendance is required.

U12: The U12 Group 1 footballers recorded a 3 point win over Borrisokane on Friday last. In a high scoring encounter, goalkeeper Conor Malone made a string of fine saves while there were strong performances from Gavin Dooley, Brendan Long and Liam Heffernan. Our Group 1 & 4 teams are away to Kildangan next Friday night April 26th.

U14: Under terrible conditions for both teams, Nenagh played their third round football league match at home to Kildangan on Wednesday evening last. Against the gale in the first half, Nenagh regrouped after early Kildangan pressure to lead 3-5 to 1-3 at half-time. Aided by the wind in the second half ,Nenagh wasted no time putting some distance between the teams with three early second half goals. Nenagh ran out convincing winners on a final scoreline of 9-12 to 1-3. Special mention to Evan Murphy for his strong defencive performance and to youngest player Barry Coffey for some great goals. Nenagh receive a bye in the next round.

U16: Our round 4 match last week against Kilruane was cancelled. The last match of the league was on Monday 24th at home to Inane Rovers. Match report on website.

Garda Cup: Well done to North Tipp U16s who won the Garda Cup in Templetouhy on Saturday last by defeating West Tipp in the semi and  South Tipp in the Final. We were represented by Gavin O'Connor and Shane Hennessy who captained the team. North Tipp now go into the Munster Championship, a title which which they won last year. Incidentally previous Eire Og men who captained successful North Tipp teams in the Garda cup were; 1989 Fergal Hynes, 1993 Darragh Quinn, 2006 Mark Flannery, 2008 Tommy Heffernan and 2011 Killian Gleeson.

Parish League: The 1st round of the Parish League took place on Monday 18th April with a very good turnout of players. The Geaney family donated 2 Cups in honour of their late father, Michael Geaney Senior; these cups will be played for in the A and B finals in a few weeks time. The results of the 1st games were: St. Marys 3-5 vs. Eire Og 3-4, Red Rovers 2-8 vs. Sarsfields 2-4. Among the younger players, there was great displays from Dermot McTiernan, Maeve Hassett, Ben West, Katie Morris, Adam Ryan, Laura White, Jamie Cottrell, Dylan Noonan-Kelly, Cian Galvin. Special mention to Sean Phelan who scored points  from 2
sideline cuts. The league continues on Mondays, players meet at 6pm.

Nenagh Handball News: Congratulations to Sinead Maher the only Tipperary representative on the Munster team that won the inter provincials handball title recently in Cavan. Sinead won her two games in the competition. Well done also to Katie Morris, Eoin Meagher, Sinead Meagher and Eimear Meagher who all played very well in the The Nationals juvenile championship at the weekend.


Camogie news:

Our Junior B's received a walkover from Fethard in the league and as such have finished the group stage unbeaten. We are now in the semi final and this should take place in The Ragg on May 5.

Our U14's had a great win over Toomevara on Tuesday last on a scoreline of 4-04 to 2-00 in the championship.

The under 12's beat Drom & Inch on Saturday. Well done girls and keep up the great work.

The U14's played Newport on Tuesday however we don't have the score at time of going to press.

The U16's are playing Newport on Thursday in Nenagh. Best wishes ladies.

Our U16's defeated Kilruane in the championship 5-07 to 0-02 on Wednesday last with Julie Moylan going on a scoring spree bagging a personal total of 4-01.

Hard luck to Aileen Duggan, Alanna Morris and the Tipperary U18's who were defeated in the All Ireland semi final by Cork on Saturday last.

Our Under 14 team have qualified for the All Ireland Feile finals to be played next July in Limerick. This is the first time a camogie team from the town has qualified for this competition. Unfortunately this comes with a huge price and we will be seeking sponsorship for this event. All donations from private individuals and businesses will be gratefully received and we will be establishing a sub committee shortly to organise fund raising.
