Camogie News:

U8s are now finished for 2012. We want thank all the girls and their parents for their help and commitment throughout the year. The girls had a great time at our end of year outing to Jumpin Gyms. Thanks to all the trainers and helpers for looking after the girls and making the year very enjoyable.

U10s are now finished for 2012. We had a great night bowling in Limerick.  A big thanks to Pat, Lorraine and Tom for all the work they have put in during the year. Thanks to all the parents for bringing the girls to training and matches and thanks to all the girls who gave a huge effort in training and matches throughout the year.

U12s The U/12s are training on a Monday and Thursday Evening.  We will be hoping to have a match every week now that the U/13 is over.

U14s The u/13 team had a fine win over Drom in the County semi-final. We played against Newport in the County Final last Saturday. This panel has worked really hard all year and had already brought a lot of success to the Club in the last two years. That continued right from the throw in, with the girls giving everything. The defense was on top all through the game and from midfield up they kept the pressure on Newport. Despite missing a few chances we went in 2-03 to 0-0 with Leah Sheedy and Becky McGrath getting the goals. We played really well in the second half but scores were harder to come by but Nenagh were able to control the game and ran out winners by 2-05 to 0-0. Well done to everyone on what has been a truly remarkable year for the U/13 and U/14 squads. Huge thanks must go to Maeve, Kieran, Noel and Martin for their time and patience. We have won 2 County Finals, Community games County and Munster finals and also competed in another County Final and two All Irelands. We also had second teams competing in the U/13 and U/14 competitions and they also exceeded expectations in reaching Quarter and Semi-finals. If everyone keeps this up Nenagh Camogie Club can look forward to a fantastic future.
Well Done to Sinead Meagher and the Nenagh Handball Club on her recent success in coming second in the Handball World Championships held in Dublin.

Junior B: Our County Final V Cahir was played in the Ragg. The team gave a great account of themselves against a well drilled Cahir team. The first half was very even and we started well with a point from Michelle O’Dwyer. Cahir then scored 3 points and we replied with a Ciara McGrath free. Cahir then scored 1-1 in the space of 5 minutes but we replied with another C McGrath free and a fine point by Brenda O’Sullivan. Cahir got the last point of the half to lead 1-05 to 0-04 at half time. Lisa Maher came on for the second half and got a point straight away. A Cahir point was then followed by Nenagh’s best spell of the game. G Morris had a fine shot saved and Louise Hickey saw her shot graze the post. Another good attack was then finished to the net by Lisa Maher. Cahir upped their game and scored 1-1 to take control of the match. Nenagh never gave up and some strong runs by D Harrington, A Duggan and A Morris were unlucky not to result in scores. Another Cahir point was cancelled out by an excellent A Morris point but it wasn’t to be as the final score was Nenagh 1-06 to Cahir 2-08. Thanks to all the players, first aiders and trainers for huge effort put in this year. The panel has really stepped up a level this year and hopefully will look back on the year with pride and not disappointment.

FUNDING: Thanks to everyone who helped and supported our Flag Day and Church gate collection last weekend. We also have bag packing on 8-9 November. All help will be needed on these dates and please don’t be afraid to contact a committee member and let them know what times you will be available for. These are our biggest fundraisers during the year and with the Club being so successful in already winning three County Finals, competing in two All Ireland finals, having competed in our first Adult County Final and the possibility of a couple more Juvenile County Finals, you can see the Club needs all the help and funds that we can get.
