U21AHC: On Sunday last, our U21 hurlers got their championship campaign off to a disappointing start following a four point loss to Toomevara on Sunday afternoon last. Final score was 2.14 to 1.13. We now enter the losers group and this will take place in the coming weeks.

Handball: Our handballers were very well represented at the World Handball Championships in City West, Dublin last week, the highlight being the fantastic success of Sinead Meagher who won a world silver medal in the under 13 singles 40 X 20. This is a wonderful achievement and great credit must go to Sinead and her coaches. Sinead also played in the under 13 doubles when she partnered Grainne Molloy from Lahorna. The Spillane family had their own notable success being represented by three generations, Cameron in the under 11 singles, Shane in the mens c doubles partnered by Denis Lenihan from Ballinahinch and Eamonn who played in the Emerald Masters A Doubles when he partnered Gerry Foley from Ballinahinch.
We were also represented by Eimear Meagher, under 13 singles, Arron Hogan, under 15 singles and Eoin Meagher in the under 15 singles. Arron and Eoin also combined in the under 15 doubles. Cameron Spillane was partnered by Roscrea’s Jack Lee in the under 11 doubles.

Camogie Club News:
U8s are training on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30. Could all girls please bring both boots and runners to training! We will have our last training night for 2012 this Wednesday before our end of year outing to Jumpin Gyms on Friday.

U10s are now finished for 2012. We had a great night bowling in Limerick last Friday.  A big thanks to Pat, Lorraine and Tom for all the work they have put in during the year. Thanks to all the parents for bringing the girls to training and matches and thanks to all the girls who gave a huge effort in training and matches throughout the year.

U12s. The U/12s are training on a Monday and Thursday Evening.  We will be hoping to have a match every week but this also depends on u/13 fixtures.
U14s.  The u/13 team had a fine win over Drom in the County semi-final last weekend. The girls now go on to play Newport in the County Final next weekend.  This panel has had a great year and has put in a huge amount of work and we ask them to train hard for one more week. Best of luck to everyone involved next weekend.

Well Done to Sinead Meagher and the Nenagh Handball Club on her recent success in coming second in the Handball World Championships held in Dublin.

Junior B: Our County Final was played last Sunday V Cahir in the Ragg. The team gave a great account of themselves against a well drilled Cahir team. The first half was very even and we started well with a point from Michelle O’Dwyer. Cahir then scored 3 points and we replied with a Ciara McGrath free. Cahir then scored 1-1 in the space of 5 minutes but we replied with another C McGrath free and a fine point by Brenda O’Sullivan. Cahir got the last point of the half to lead 1-05 to 0-04 at half time. Lisa Maher came on for the second half and got a point straight away. A Cahir point was then followed by Nenagh’s best spell of the game. G Morris had a fine shot saved and Louise Hickey saw her shot graze the post. Another good attack was then finished to the net by Lisa Maher. Cahir upped their game and scored 1-1 to take control of the match. Nenagh never gave up and some strong runs by D Harrington, A Duggan and A Morris were unlucky not to result in scores. Another Cahir point was cancelled out by an excellent A Morris point but it wasn’t to be as the final score was Nenagh 1-06 to Cahir 2-08. Thanks to all the players, first aiders and trainers for huge effort put in this year. The panel has really stepped up a level this year and hopefully will look back on the year with pride and not disappointment.

FUNDING: Thanks to everyone who helped and supported our Flag Day and Church gate collection last weekend. We also hope to have bag packing on 8-9 November. All help will be needed on these dates and please don’t be afraid to contact a committee member and let them know what times you will be available for. These are our biggest fundraisers during the year and with the Club being so successful in already winning two County Finals, competing in two All Ireland finals, having  competed in our first Adult County Final and the possibility of a couple more Juvenile County Finals, you can see the Club needs all the help and funds that we can get.
