The U/14s are training on Mondays and Thursdays.  Our u/14 B team won again and has now qualified for the final stages of the C Competition. Our U/14 A team are also in the semi-final. Our two U/13 teams have also qualified for the semi-finals after great wins last week. All these teams are performing really well but especially our second teams who, apart from winning, are getting much needed game time which is a huge help in making all the teams better and stronger. Details of matches will be given at training so it is important for everyone to attend. Our U/14s also travelled to Cork for a challenge game and then travelled on to support  the Junior B team. A big thanks to everyone who travelled and supported both teams.U16s. Training times are being sent out by text.  We are to play our final group games on Monday in the Ragg. We have qualified for the semi-final so it is important for everyone to stay working hard in training as this will be coming up shortly.Junior B: On Tuesday last the girls were treated to a top class training session with Deirdre McDonnell. Everyone was very impressed with Deirdre’s professionalism, enthusiasm and her drills and she has a great coaching career ahead of her. All the players and management would like to thank Deirdre for giving up her time to take the session.
On Saturday we won the Munster Junior League Plate final for the second year in a row. St Vincents from Knocknaheeney in Cork provided the opposition in their home pitch. We started off brightly when Danielle Harrington scored 1-01 in the opening minutes. This was the springboard to our success and we never looked back. Louise Hickey, who flew home from Spain especially for the match, added a further goal to leave the half time score 2-05 to 0-03. In the second half we were playing against a strong breeze but that didn’t matter as the girls upped the ante and Coleen O Brien and C McGrath added further goals to leave the final score 4-08 to 2-07. Right across the pitch we had some fine performances but it was the display of Sarah Maher, Claire Collins and Alice Darcy in the backs that really caught the eye. Goalkeeper Donna Mitchell made a number of great saves that Brendan Cummins would have been proud of. Around the middle of the field Zoey Gratton and Michelle O Dwyer worked very hard. Our forwards constantly tormented the Knocknaheeney backs and Gemma Morris, Coleen O Brien, Lisa Maher and Judy Mulqueen had to be constantly watched.  There were wild scenes of celebration when Captain Louise Hickey collected the cup. The team got a great reception when they returned to Nenagh and were treated to a lovely meal in The Hibernian Inn. Thanks to Martin, Jane and all the staff for the wonderful hospitality on the night. Thanks also to the under fourteen team that travelled down to Cork to support us in great numbers and to the large contingent of Nenagh fans who’s support was very much appreciated by the team.   Team: Donna Mitchell, Claire Collins, Alice Darcy, Mary Dillon, Sarah Maher, Aileen Duggan, Zoey Gratton, Michelle O Dwyer, Ciara McGrath, Coleen O Brien, Danielle Harrington, Alanna Morris, Judy Mulqueen, Louise Hickey, Gemma Morris. Subs: Lisa Maher for Mulqueen, Catriona O Connor for O Brien, Maria Daly for Morris, Jessica Maher for Hickey, Niamh Costello for O Dwyer.
We must now start to focus on the county championship with our opening match against Portroe just two weeks away.
