Juvenile club news:
U8: We will host the annual Tommy Mulcahy tournament on this Saturday morning.
U10: We had 2 teams playing in Dr. Morris Park in a county blitz on Saturday last, they boys enjoyed the games and played very well.
U14: Our good run came to an end on Saturday last in Templemore when we were defeated in the county semi final by Drom & Inch on a scoreline of 3 13 to 0 7. Drom had the strong breeze in the first half and made good use of it leaving us with an uphill battle for the 2nd half, the lads fought hard and never gave up but had to give second best to a fine Drom team that had 7 players on the Tipperary U14 teams, we wish them the best of luck in the county final. It has been a great year for this group of players who exceeded expectations by winning North hurling and football championships and Peil football. Great credit is due to mentors John Manley, Eamon O’Brien, Robbie Ryan and Christy McLoughlin. Many thanks to Noreen Ryan for her help with first aid on Saturday last. The panel and mentors made a presentation to panel member Levi Heenan for his commitment to the panel throughout the year, well done Levi.
U16: We defeated Newport/Ballinahinch last week by 2 19 to 2 5. We play Toomevara in the North final which is scheduled for this Saturday in Cloughjordan, see North Board fixtures.
Fundraising: The Juvenile club have organised backpacking in Dunnes Stores on Friday and Saturday 23rd and 24th September, we will be contacting people in due course for this important fundraiser.
Camogie News:
U16: The u 16 team lost out to a wonderful Cahir team in the county B semi final recently in the Ragg. They competed very well in the first half going in 1-04 to 1-01 down. In the second half the superior Cahir fitness took over and despite a great effort from Nenagh they lost heavily despite hitting the post 3 times. It is a young team with most of them underage again next year and the experience will stand to them. Scorers H O Brien 1-0 G O Brien 0-2 L Maher 0-1 C O Brien 0-1
U18s: The u 18s lost out to a very experienced Moneygall team last week in their first game at this level. It will be a learning experience for the team but they will compete very well as is their nature. Scorers C McGrath 1-02 A Morris 0-1. Next up was Kilruane in Nenagh last week in McDonagh Park and the team really fronted up against a very experienced Kilruane team. We have to remember that this is only our second year competing at u 18 level and it was always going to be tough but this team is full of spirit and courage and constantly defy their age limitations. The team competed very well in every line of the pitch and gave what could only be called a heroic performance which will stand to them in future seasons. Kilruane ran out winners in the end as their experience and age stood out.
