The 2014 season got off to a losing start when an under strength team suffered a heavy defeat to county senior champions, Old Leighlin, in the All County League last Friday. Well done to the 20 lads who played and tried their hearts out for the full hour, especially returning emigrants Paddy Gahan, Niall Humphries and Michael Murray and youngsters Joe Hickey, Adam Byrne, Enda McGrath, Martin Doyle and Chris Smith who were making their debuts at senior level and acquitted themselves well. Unfortunately, Willie Byrne suffered a serious elbow injury and Darren McGrath also picked up a back injury early on. We wish Willie and Darren speedy recoveries. The next ACL game is at home to Fenagh on Friday evening at 7.45pm.
The Junior's Division 5 game did not go ahead on Sunday as Tinryland could not field a team. The Juniors are at home to the Fighting Cocks next Sunday, 23 March, at 5pm.
The Minors start their League campaign tomorrow (Wednesday, 19th) with an away game against Slaney Rangers in Tullow at 7pm.
Selectors have now been confirmed for all teams:- Intermediate & Under 21: John Connolly (Manager), Keith Byrne (Trainer), Colin Doyle, Jamie Doyle, Stephen Byrne.
