Cúchulainn An Mullach Ban Weekly Newsletter:

Scor: The celebrations continued all week in the aftermath of the club winning another All Ireland title and ended with our All Ireland champions performing the finale in what was a fantastic celebration of Irish music and culture in Ti Chulainn on Saturday evening. Yet again patrons were offered a special helping of all that is good about Mullaghbawn including Irish dancing, singing, traditional music and story telling dished out in ample portions by young and old alike - all from an Mullach ban and the surrounding area. It is an absolute credit to the individuals who put in such effort to ensure that Irish culture is alive and vibrant in this beautiful part of Ireland and well done to everyone who support them. The evening also highlighted the great relationship between the hard working team in Ti Chulainn and Cúchulainn An Mullach Ban CLG with the very generous sponsorship of the U16 football team by Ti Chulainn. Many thanks and well done on a fantastic night. And for all those requesting copies of the “What’s the Scor” CD – there are still some copies available in local shops or directly from any member of the Mullaghbawn Committee.

Football:

Men’s Senior Team: Cúchulainn senior football team showed a renewed steely resilience on Sunday evening, when, after Harps had turned round a 5 point deficit to go 2 in front – the never say die attitude from the home team shone through and the boys from Mullaghbawn went on to win a hard fought contest. Credit to Harps who worked hard throughout and threw in county men Charlie Vernon and Gareth Swift for the last fifteen minutes, and although the 2 lads did help turn it round for a while the Mullaghbawn men had enough fire in their bellies to lift their game and overcome the late surge from the Harps. Karl Quinn had another great game and led the charge forward with Paul Kelly stepping up to take the responsibility and knock over what looked like the winner which was shortly followed by the insurance point - which proved full value for the home team as the Harps went back up the field to claw back a late point to leave Cúchulainn An Mullach Ban eventual winners on a score line of 2-10 to 2-09.

Training continues for the senior men on Tuesdays and Fridays.

U18 and U16 Team: Minor and juvenile training is as usual on Thursday evenings from 7pm to 8pm .

U14 Team: - The U14s train on Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:30 and Thursday evenings from 7pm to 8pm .

U12 Team:  - Cuchulainn Under 12 team travelled to Coilleach Eanach on Saturday and after an entertaining game lost to an outstanding home side. An Mullach Bán played with a very strong wind in the first half, but failed to take full advantage and were behind at half time by one goal and one point. Against the wind, however, the team showed tremendous spirit and the whole defence deserves great credit for limiting the Naomh Padhraig score to manageable proportions. Niall Donnelly in goals brought off some spectacular saves and at full back, Eamonn O’Coínn had probably his best ever game in a Cuchulainn jersey. The midfield of Niall Strain and Pauric Mackin worked themselves to a standstill. The forwards were working on a limited supply of good ball, but here John Rafferty, Eoghan Rafferty and Barry Quigley worked hard.

The Cuchulainn line-out was: Niall Donnelly, Patrick Murphy, Eamon O’Coinn, Fearghal Mackin, James O’Hanlon, Oran Reynolds, Shane Myles, Niall Strain, Pauric Mackin, Nathan Taggart, Eoghan Rafferty, John Rafferty, Barry Quigley, Muceál McVirry, and Raymond Murphy. Niamh Donnelly and John Leonard were introduced at half time.  U12 training continues on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30 on the training pitches.

U10 Team: The U10 Team worked their socks off in wet miserable conditions in Carrickcruppen on Sunday morning against a very lively home side. An Mullach Ban started strong and dominated the early stages of the game thanks to some great work by John Rafferty, Luke Owens and Gerard McCann. But were just not strong enough to hold on. In fact Carrickcruppen finished a lot stronger and ran out eventual winners on a score line of 4-6 to 1-7. The team included Adrian Mee, Cormac Hughes, Michael McCreesh, Declan Murphy, Michael Muckian, Eugene McKeever, Ruari McCann, Fearghal Mackin, John Rafferty, David McKinley, Eoghain McDonnell, Luke Owens, Conor Grant, Gerard McCann, Sean Stephens, Morgan McDonnell, Oisin Garvey, Michael McCann, Niall Owens,  Cormac Smyth,   Training continues on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 on the training pitches with next weeks match again scheduled for the Sunday morning at 11:15. More details at training on Tuesday evening.
