Annaghdown 0-14 Claregalway 0-9. Annaghdown beat Claregalway in the Sweeney Oil football League played in Claregalway on Saturday evening; we lead at the break by 0-7 to 0-2 with our scores coming from Michael Newell (0-2) and a point each from Michael Melia, Brendan Dooley, Liam O’Flynn, Damien Burke and Wesley Fallon. Our second half scores came from Damien Burke 0-2, Matthias Coleman 0-2, Brendan Dooley, Brian Qualter and Aidan Burke a point each. Our team was Padraic Mannion, Benny Newell, Paul Creaven, Shane Collier, Brian Qualter, Anthony Pender, Fergal Doherty, Wesley Fallon, Kevin Keane, Michael Melia, Damien Burke, Liam O’Flynn, Brendan Dooley, Michael Newell, and Mathias Coleman. Subs used Ian O’Dowd, PJ Fahy, Christy Burke, Declan Walsh and Aidan Burke.

In the Junior A Football League game played at Killconnell the final result was St.Gaberials 0-06 Annaghdown 2-07. This was a aood first outing for the Junior A team in Kilconnell with a panel of 25 turning out Morgan Duggan lead the charge and scores were hard earned but PJ Fahy hit two first half points and a great goal by Alan Newell had Annaghdown in command at the break. James Melia added the second goal with ten minutes to go giving Annaghdown a comfortable win at the finish. We won our second Junior C Football League game with a win over Caltra on Saturday evening by 1-16 to 1-10, We lead at half time by two points 1-7 to 1-5 after playing with a strong breeze with John Killilea scoring our goal but Caltra replied with a goal just before half time, We played better against the wind in the second half out scoring Caltra by nine points to five. Our best players were Vivian Silke, Niall Greaney, Ronan Creaven, Kieran Mitchell, John Killilea, Ger Rafftery and Kenneth Leonard. The team was Padraic O’Neill, Vivian Silke, Derek Joyce, Niall Greaney, Aidan Joyce, Michael Curry, Tom Forde (0-4), Kieran Mitchell (0-1), Ger Rafftery (0-2), John Killilea (1-2), Evan Melia (0-1), Shane Newell(0-1), Kenny Leonard (0-2), and Jimmy Forde. Our Minor Football team lost to Tuam Stars in the league last Wednesday evening and it was our first defeat in league in over three years our next game is against Mountbellew next Wednesday.

This is Feile week-end in football and we play Moycullen and Spiddal in Moycullen on Saturday morning.

This week-end we have Intermediate hurling against Ballinasloe.

In Junior Hurling we beat Sylane in the leagun in Sylane on Tuesday evening. Full report next week or go to notes section of our website.

The sun shone for the Easter Hurling Camp attended by the Milwaukee Hurling Club and a number of press photographers from both local and national press as well as TG4 visited the event. The TG4 piece will be available by clicking here just select Thursdays Nuacht (12 April 07) and forward the clip to around 23mins. A big thanks to Joe Canning who demonstrated hurling skills and gave some very good tips to our future players. He also presented the medals to the 2006 U12, U14 and U16 winning teams from 2006. There were also speeches, presentations and refreshments. We had a number of our own photographers plus loads of our Milwaukee friends had cameras so we will surely see more pictures on both websites over the next few weeks. Thanks to all who helped out during the week especially Seamus Collier, the local Fas workers and the ladies who provided refreshments during the camp and on the presentation night. Cork side Killeagh GAA Clubs underage hurlers visited Annaghdown on Saturday last to play our own teams at U11, U13 and U15 level in what has now become a bi-annual event. They stayed with us in local houses for the night before returning to Cork on the Sunday morning. Thanks to all who helped out with accommodation, catering, coaching etc on the day.

Indoor hurling has finished. We will have underage hurling training out doors on Saturdays and Wednesdays in Cregg for Under 8, 10 & 12 players. Wednesdays will be at 6.30pm for one hour while we will be training from 10.30am-12noon on Saturday morning. Once a month we will be training on a Sunday with the first Sunday session on this Sunday April 22nd at 10.30am. Hurleys are available at 15 while we have some helmets available for sale at  50. Help with coaching is welcome and people can just turn up on the day and volunteer. Coaching courses will be organized in due course.

Country Horse Run in aid of the Collins/Duggan fund was held on Saturday 31st March 2007 and we have pictures of jumps, on the road and general pictures from the event on our website. We also have pictures of the presentation night for the underage hurlers, the Easter Camp, the visit of Milwaukee Hurling club to Cregg and the minor football clash with Corofin. Ladies Football.

The seniors had a good win over Clonbur on Sunday with a score line of Annaghdown 3.10 to Clonbur 1.08. Training continues for them on Wednesday and Friday at 7.30 p.m.

The Under 14’s had a great start to their league campaign last week when they defeated Caherlistrane 5.15 to 2.02. On Saturday they took part in Feile competitions in Tuam and they played well with victories over Tuam/Cartoon and Clarinbridge, but suffered defeat to Salthill and St. Brendan’s. Claregalway were the overall winners of the competition and we would like to wish them every success in the competitions at the end of June.

The under 14’s will travel to Grainne Mhaols on Sunday next, full details will be given at training on Friday evening At 6.30 p.m.

Our under 16’s take on Caherlistrane this week in the League and training continues for them on Friday evening at 6.30 p.m.

Under- 10 training commences on Sunday at 10.30 in Cregg with Under 12 training at Corrandulla school pitch on Thursday at 7p.m.
