Weekly Notes June 8th

November 8, 2018

The club is faced with a delima this weekend with the Intermediate hurling championship and Junior A football championship fixed for the same time on Saturday.  The Junior Footballers take on St. Grellan’s Ballinasloe in the first round of the North GPC championship at 5pm in Menlough while at the same time the hurlers will face Tommy Larkins in Athenry in the Intermediate hurling championship.  Best of luck to both teams and hopefully they can both bring home the spoils.

U14 ‘A’ footballers play St. Michael in the championship this evening (Friday) in the county league semi-final.  U14 ‘B’ footballers play Milltown in the shield on Saturday at 6pm in Milltown.

Underage hurling continues tomorrow Saturday in Cregg at 10.30am.  We cater for all children from 5 to 12 at these sessions.  Parents and others who are willing to help at coaching are welcome to attend.  Training is also held on Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm.  We will be having hurling training for all underage groups on Sunday 17th June while the under 6, 8 and 10 groups will also be having training on Sunday June 24th instead of the Saturday due to the football sides involvement in a Mountbellew/Moylough tournament on the Saturday (June 23th).

U12 hurlers lost to Sylane on a 3-1 to 0-1 on Monday last. Team was Eoghan Geoghegan, Nathan Hardiman, Dara Farragher, Darren Groarke, Cormac Garvey, Daniel Burke, Arron Fahy, Daniel Kerr, David Kerr, Rurairi Cusack, Justin O Flaherty, Patrick Garvey, Dara Fahy, Mark Hughes, Shaun Fahy. Subs used Robbie Melia (came late!).  Training on Saturday morning at 10.30am.  Next game on Monday next. Details at training. We have three more games in the championship group.

Under 14 & U16 hurling training continues on Friday nights in Cregg at 6.30pm.  All players included those doing exams are asked to attend.  It will be just ball work and skills training for the duration of the exams.  We play Ahascragh/Fohenagh in the first U16 championship game on July 2nd.

This weeks lotto winning numbers were 1,21,24,28, we had no jackpot winner and there was one match three Paul Morrissey c/o Teddy. Pat Creaven won the promoters prize and next weeks is in the Club House on Monday night for a €6550 jackpot.  We ask all who got Yearly Lotto tickets last Sunday to return them this Sunday to the committee and thanks to all for there continued support.

Best of luck to all our members doing exams over the next few weeks.
