Salthill Knocknacarra 2-12

The Salthill Knocknacarra Senior footballers were in action against Killanain last Friday evening in the Prairie. Having suffered defeat against Barna in the previous round, Salthill confidence was low among supporters and players. However, the team rallied for this clash and produced a great show to earn the points.
They also continued this good showing with a good win over Moycullen in the Prairie last Wednesday evening. Brian and Peter Fahy did well for the sea siders with Brian contributing three fine points. The sea siders started brightly going three points to no score ahead. However,Moycullen ,with the help of former Salthill man Ray Hogan, go to grips with the game and levelled. The game was neck and neck for most for the first half but Salthill went in ahead by the minimum at half time.
They continued to play well in the second half. The Fahy’s along with captain Ruairdhi McTiernan did well. Seamie Crowe returned to form and help his side edge out their rivals 0-15 to 0-12. Good performances from Aonghus Hanley (first half), McTiernan, Eoin O Mahoney, and Gearóid Armstrong and Johnny Burke.

Junior A Championship.
Salthill Knocknacarra 2-12
St James 3-2

Salthill Knocknacarra defeated St James in the Junkor A championship in Tirellan last Saturday eveing. Despite the concession of three goals the sky blues, battled hard to ensure they grabbed the points after drawing the first round with Micheal Breatnach’s. It was a good performance by the team with notable performances from Gearóid Armstrong, Maurice Sheridan and Colin Sheridan when introduced.

Juvenile football

The parish leagues continue into their fifth week. Great excitement continues for all involved with both the Under 9/Under 10 and Under11/under 12 groups showing superb skill.

Ladies football

Heartiest congratulations to Alice Meagher and Fiona Power who represented Salthill Knocknacarra on the Galway team that won the under 14 All Ireland on. The Galway girls defeated Dublin. Well done to all involved

Camogie

The U10s completed the group stage of the Championship with a good show against Carnmore where they were let down by lack of finishing, followed the next day by a joint trip with Bearna to play Na Brideoga in Ballyhaunis. This was a great social success. The Juniors were also in action against Carnmore this week, playing a tough challenge match in preparation for the upcoming championship. On Saturday the club hosts the inaugural U8 Go Games in the Prairie at 10am.

Hurling
The game against St Columbus due to be played tonight Friday has been postponed.
