Youths: Saint Patrick's Athletic 2-1 Dundalk

November 8, 2018

Substitute Rowan Quinn’s late header could not save Dundalk Youths from exiting the FAI Cup as they bowed out in the second round following a 2-1 defeat by Saint Patrick’s Athletic in Dublin on Sunday afternoon.

The home side looked to have secured their passage to the next round when they scored twice after the break, as they found themselves well in control despite Dundalk creating a number of openings.

But the young Lilywhites produced a late rally, with Quinn heading in Conor McDonald’s cross on 80 minutes, before Kurt Murphy was agonisingly denied an equaliser as his shot was cleared off the line five minutes from time.
